About me
I was born and raised in Manila, Philippines and later moved to the United Kingdom. As the daughter of artists, I was encouraged to experience the world through my imagination. Today, I still find myself growing into the many ways my imagination can take me – whether it’s at work for a cancer charity or as a professional artist, I use the arts to connect to everything I do.
My art examines lived experience through image and metaphor. I work with an evolving variety of tactile material to express ideas, feelings, sensations, beliefs, and my emotional response to the energy they produce. I’m curious about our creative capacity to make sense and meaning of the things that happen to us; the intersections of our identity and our many parts; and how these shape our interactions with each other and the planet.
Our personal stories, images and mythologies have the power to transform our sense of self and the world around us. My artmaking stitches together my story at the sutures of meaning, mattering and mothering. This trifecta plays into my evolving understanding of self and those that came before me.
I am based in a seaside town in the UK where I live with my partner, our children and Bentley our British shorthair.
